Penny Kelly was born at Rockhampton Downs Station.
She attended primary school there before working at
the station's kitchen and school. When she got married
she moved to Banka Banka Station and had two children.

was born at Rockhampton Downs. We’re from that
other side and do art in there. We started out bush,
Karlmanpupa. Used to do paintings…we used to
make on paper first, learning. On those little paper
first. On canvas now." |

She lived at Mungalawuuru outstation and Kalumpurla
before arriving in Tennant Creek where she began on
and off for 10 years. Penny paints bush tucker, landscapes
and "culture" paintings belonging to her homeland
Mungalawurru.
