John Duggie grew up in Kurnellie and Kurundi. When
he was a young man he worked as a stockman at Kurundi,
Murray Downs, Imamgara and Elkarde. He also worked at
Alpurrurulum (Lake Nash) building the store. In 1985
his family received their land claim at Mungkarta and
it was here that he started making artefacts, learning
from his father.

used to follow my old dad round yknow,
when he used to go out hunting and to chop wood.
We could see might be a number seven and dig around
the tree to find the root, long handed. I used to
chop it down and I used to watch him how he make
boomerang." |
